TRIZ: A Systematic Approach to Conceptual Design   
Altshuller's Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (abbreviated as TRIZ) is a collection of domain-independent techniques for innovative engineering design. The TRIZ techniques have proven successful during a long-term use in various industries. Each technique consists of a number of guidelines, rules or principles which indicate how to cope with a specific problem or situation.
